Ear candling, also known as ear coning or thermal-auricular therapy, is a practice that involves inserting a hollow cone-shaped candle made of fabric soaked in beeswax or paraffin into the ear canal. The exposed end of the candle is then lit, and the heat is believed to create a gentle vacuum that draws earwax and other impurities out of the ear.

The process is often described in the following steps:

  1. Preparation: The person receiving the ear candling treatment lies on their side with the ear to be treated facing upward.
  2. Insertion: The narrow end of the candle is gently placed into the ear canal, and the wider end is lit.
  3. Burning: As the candle burns, it creates a mild suction or vacuum effect. This suction helps draw out earwax, debris, and impurities from the ear canal.
  4. Protective Measures: Typically, a protective plate or barrier is placed around the ear to catch any ash or debris from the burning candle.
  5. Extinguishing: Once the candle burns down to a certain point, it is carefully extinguished, and the remaining portion is removed from the ear.

Ear candling has various potential benefits, including improved hearing, relief from earwax blockages, and enhanced overall well-being.

"To watch the foot bath turn black with the toxins being drawn from my feet was not unexpected. The follow up of moxibustion and teachings of energy flow gave me a reset and relief that the medications I take for osteoarthritis haven't given to me. Much blessed."
